Tibetan Yoga Today
Yoga to activate the Energy
Two small books have been published in America and in UK revealing
the efficiency of: “ TheFive Tibetans”
These Tibetan Yoga exercises are dynamising the vortexes, plexus,
chakras, so all physical and mind functions are activated. They are
said to have rejuvenating powers.
Tibetan Yoga is practiced by Buddhist Tibetan monks, but only few
of them are taught with this technique, which is secret. Today, because
of the side effects of the Chinese cultural revolution, still active
in Tibet, there are less and less yogis in Tibet.
As I am used to trek in the Himalayas for more than twenty years,
including Tibet, I have been initiated to more than the “Five
Tibetans”. These exercises help me a lot to enjoy trekking and
mountaineering in high mountains. I feel more energy in my body and
in my mind the days I am practicing them.
I compare the Tibetan Yoga exercises to the vitamins and minerals.
To keep our balance, we need to absorb daily different vitamins and
minerals. They are provided by our food and drinks. Over using some
vitamins and eating too much may create unbalances. Under absorbing
vitamins and food during long fasting may also create problems.
It is the same with the Tibetan yoga exercises. A daily practice,
at moderate dose, provides energy for day and night. Over practicing
may damage the body and disturb the mind.
In addition to my personal practice, I am sure of the efficiency of
these exercises because I taught them to very young Tibetan children,
at Dharamsala, Mcleodganj, the small Indian town where HH the Dalai
Lamas is leaving in exile. The children immediately enjoyed the exercises.
Their teachers have noticed that they have more energy all day when
they are doing morning yoga. Tibetan teenagers also enjoyed practicing
yoga at school.
The complete set includes 30 exercises, with deep breathing. They
are performed like the sun salutations, without stopping, for half
an hour, or more for advanced trainees. Each exercise is repeated
7, 14 or 21 times.
By thinking to the Tibetan sun rising in Tibet, these exercises link
the mind and the soul to Tibet and to the universal energy.
Anybody can do these exercises, but it is better to learn with a specialist.
